COMMUNITY
This month Community takes a look at a long standing part of our Community, the GAY HOTLINE. The Hotline has been offered as a service to the Community since 1975 by The GEAR Foundation. Volunteers are trained for peer counseling, information and referral services that it offers.
The Hotline, which handled more than 9,000 calls last year, can tell you what's happening around the Community, where to go, or can put you in touch with other Gay groups within the Cleveland area. Information is also available if you're traveling out of town.
Need to know a Doctor, Lawyer, or Counselor who is in tune with the Gay Community? The Hotline maintains a referral file for these services. The Hotline also responds to lifestyle and informational questions from the Heterosexual Community.
The Gay Hotline is open 7-11 p.m. every evening. This month marks a drive on the part of the Hotline to increase it's volunteer staff by at least 10 by the end of January 1982. Please see related articles on this in HIGH GEAR. If you would be interested in being a volunteer please call the Hotline and leave your name and number for either Tom or Win. Please also note the best times and days to get back to you.
